Vacation time

Without this note my Rome visit wouldn’t have turned out half as lovely as it did. It was full of Kristina’s tips about which areas to visit, where to buy the best cheese, where to go for eating and drinking… Before handing some of them to you, I’d like to add walking to the list or strolling if you like. It’s the best isn’t it for exploring new territory?

Monti - stroll around this charming area, just north of Forum Romanum, and you’ll find wonderful shops like Novintage Couture and Miss on Via Degli Zingari, Mia Sushi & Style and Ninnão or antiques in isola.

The best cheese shop was located on Via Collina, close to Piazza Sallustio. For intriguing exhibitions and displays, visit Il Giardino Segreto on Via di Panico, close(ish) to Piazza Navona.

Wine and dine at Trimani. Eat ice cream from San Crispino on Piazza Maddalena, close to the Pantheon. Chocolate lovers head to Moriondo & Gariglio.

You’ll find more Rome tips here.

Tomorrow is vacation time! We’re taking the train to Paris, Portugal and who knows where?? I’ll be back by the end of July. Ciao.

Midsummer 2008

Dessert.

Midsummer was really great - a wonderful little mix of people of all ages and backgrounds collected at my favourite place in the world! We had time to enjoy ourselves and relax and eat and drink. I don’t know what time the sun set, but it was after a very beautiful day.

Summer claimed

I went to ROme - what a wonderful city! - and when I came back, Summer just barged in and claimed me. Perhaps it’s the Roma tempo I got accustomed to after just three days of leasurly long lunches in the sun, strolling in unknown charming streets where history is a constant companion and taking a break now and again for a cappucino?

During my extra long coffee break today I enjoyed this great magazine, much of it made by Elizabeth. I found it really inspiring - the styling, the images, the text, everything.

manos has been redecorated with summer and in a couple of weeks I hope that flowering sweet peas will be climbing up the walls of the greenhouse.

Here are my pictures from Rome, I’ll give you my Rome favorites in a little while, now I need to go out and breathe the summer!

Overgrown on the roof top

I’m off to Rome for the weekend! It’s a trip I’m making with my choir so we’ll be performing concerts on Friday and Saturday evening (links to the concert churches). I’ll be back on Monday and that’s when this weeks manos orders will be sent out - as well as all the large plates and bowls that you’ve waited so patiently for - thank you all!

For those of you who will be in Stockholm over the weekend, I can recommend “Vildvuxet” (Overgrown), a show at the roof of Kulturhuset. Three very talented women have put together a wonderful program of opera, poetry, humour and beauty. More pictures here.

Ciao!

May I have this dance?

Mr Black mug

manos is updated with the last pieces from the Mr Black & Mme Ochre series, I hope you find something you like! Camilla and I really got hooked on this collaboration and we’re planning a continuation. It’ll be in a while, but stay tuned.
