Willow bark and crinkle cups

Thank you for all the sweet comments! The water came back and no 3 is blossoming :) Here are some things I’ve liked lately.

Willow bark basket (I love the sound of that) by Jennifer Heller Zurick, via Design DNA.

Crinkled porcelain paper cup, from Rose and Radish via Joy’s guestblog.

From the spring/summer 07 collection by Gypsy and Loic, via Jill Danyelle at Inhabitat.

Pilha, a project by Angela Detanico und Rafael Lain via Beton & Garten and VVork. I just really like the way the way the boxes are stapled on top of each other against the wall…

No more water

We have no water here today, perhaps the pipes are frozen? If I get too thirsty I’ll melt some snow.

Diana has made some wonderful tea bowls and she has also tagged me so here are some truths. I’m breaking the rules and wont be tagging anyone else ;)

1 I like eating crisp bread for breakfast.
2 I get a head ache if I haven’t had a cup of coffee by noon.
3 I think I’m falling in love.
4 The lack of natural light makes me tired.
5 Tomorrow is the blog’s 2nd birthday but because of no 3 this has been neglected…

I’d like to go to Helsinki and visit Gallery Norsu. They will be at Collect in London where they’ll show jewellery by for instance Eija Mustonen and beautiful glass by Hong Sung Hwuan.

Svensk Form on Skeppsholmen are having a book sale.

Fairytale

What a view, ey? It’s so amazing around here now, I took some more pictures from Överjärva this morning.

It’s quiet as well, with the snow softening every sound.

Jewellery by Tarja Tuupanen and Marc Monzo are part of The Françoise van den Bosch Collection, you’ll find them amongst the young talents.

Wintry weekend

Mmm, wintry weekend ahead. It’ll be filled with salsa dancing and perhaps a long walk on Sunday? And work of course ;) Do you remember what the Orangerie looked like in the autumn?

I’ve mentioned Mel Robson before in connection with Craft Australia and now she’s made these beautiful tiles. She’s also got a fine blog!

More Australia: Smart works - an exhibition, symposium and publication exploring the values of the handmade.

‘The Antenna’ an installation by Ilya Kabakov. The text says:

“My Dear One! When you are lying in the grass, with your head thrown back, there is no one around you, and only the sound of the wind can be heard and you look up into the open sky - there, up above, is the blue sky and the clouds floating by - perhaps this is the very best thing that you have ever done or seen in your life.”

Read the whole exhibition history and critical commentary on Ilya and Emilia Kabakov’s site. Via Beton & Garten.

Happy weekend everyone!

Poor daylight

I like the simple cut in this sweater from Pia Sellin, designed in 2000, but it still holds out well.

A ceramic shape-patterned kind of dish cloth from Neutral Store, one of mav’s excellent links from the other day.

Bags like this make me wish I was a knitter. Via Craft blog.

Some yellow in the poor daylight ;)

One last link: Into knitted design available from Velvet Boutique.

How to live

Edgar lives here at Överjärva, he will be 27 in May. The well-used building on the right used to be a glorious pavillion in Hagaparken.

‘How to live’ bag from Billet. Everything shown in their magazine and webshop is simply beautifully presented. Sites like that make it easy to breath and fancy a bag that know how to live! The sheep Jennifer, below, is also from Billet. Via le vestiairedejeanne.

I’ve moved into the beautiful calendar that Cecilia’s made for me, I’ve a feeling 2007 will be a good year.

Lauri Faggioni’s work made me think of Tamar Mogendorff’s wonderful dolls. I found Lauri via Emma Chic & Choc.

A bit of colour

Fabulous example of Harris Tweed, Vivienne Westwood style, via SuperNaturale.

Paulina Reyes via Here & There.

This fashion is getting to me now, Cutie booties from Le Trainblue.

Two links found through Popgloss:
Beautiful, it’s in porcelain by Vic Bevan.
Baks - danish jewellery.

The Everyday and the far Away

I saw Gosia Korsakowski’s beautiful glass tumblers at Grace’s House & Garden blog a while ago and now they’re available from her etsy shop.

Curlin has made some truly enchanting ceramic vases.

I’ve showed this brooch by Bettina Speckner before - led to it by Abigail - and here it is again. If you’re lucky enough to be in Amsterdam: until January 15th it’s shown at Ra Gallery. The exhibition is called The Everyday and the far Away.

Beautiful handmade

Here are some of the lovely things available in the Kim family auction. Fold bag by Uniform Studio (above).

Handmade doll by Laura Normandin.

Petit Lion by Lorena Siminovich.

An amazing bird (not available in the auction!).

Apartfrom

Happy New Year! The glass vase is from Svenskt Tenn. It captures today’s clear sky and sunlight and I believe the growing leaves will be a symbol for this year. I hope my mind will be a little clearer and sunnier tomorrow too ;) - today is just one of those days.

This pillow is designed, woven and embroidered by Åsa Pärson. It was my Christmas present to mum and dad, it now sits beautifully in their newly re-dressed chairs.

Platina gallery is showing jewellery by Pia Aleborg. The exhibition is called ‘Apartfrom’and is about capturing “the intentional or unintentional efforts people make to hide certain things and promote others in their domestic environments.” (The quote is from Pia’s website and the picture was taken by Michael Grenmarker.)
