Coming back and taking off

To all of you from all of me: a very merry Christmas!

I bought this card in Budapest, I adore him!

A still life of ceramic jewellery and a tile that I’ve been working on during the year. I hope to make some more soon, right now I just thought it has quite a wintry feel to it.

Good different

The play I was so looking forward to seeing was canceled but the nice ticket man found places for us on Thursday instead. All of a sudden I had time to go see the fire festivities at Rosendals Trädgård. Lights hung from branches and the greenhouses were lit up beautifully in the dark winter afternoon.

Joy posted about photographer Kanako Sasaki, some of her photographs are pure bliss. The above is not by her, you have to go to her site!

More beautiful pictures - of a beautiful house. Via Jean Snow.

Right now I am enjoying this book by Elizabeth Gilbert.

The owl Christmas decorations I mentioned some time ago is by Anna-Carin Dahl and no one else, she’s got her workshop at Designer Zoo in Copenhagen.

Christmas decorated window at Svenskt Tenn shop here in Stockholm.

Meditative traditions

It’s becoming a tradition for my family to go to Storkyrkan for Lucia night. It’s the oldest church in Stockholm and sitting in a building from the 13th century, packed full with people, listening to the violins and the singing is beautifully meditative.

Henning pointed out that the sauna is by architect Ari Leiononen at SSARK and this led me to discover Henning’s wonderful illustrations.

This years first Christmas cards in a bowl handmade by Eva Svensson.

I like this story.

Three little Santa’s

I so enjoy market weekends here at Överjärva - making the workshop look nice and then spend the weekend meeting lovely people! Here are some pictures from the weekend. See all my pictures here and there are a whole lot at Överjärvas web as well.

My little Santa’s showed people the way to the ceramics workshop, it was packed in here!

This plump red bird is made by Nicke Helldorff who sold his wonderful wooden birds in Statarlängan.

My tealight holders were very popular.

I was pretty exhausted last night, but managed to keep my eyes open for the Nobel banquet broadcast. Here is what they ate, I enjoyed a glass of red wine with the lovely bread from Rosendals Trädgård that was sold in Statarlängan. Next Sunday is the fire festivities at Rosendal.

For those of you interested in architecture - Svensk Byggtjänst is selling all their books for 50 kronor - sale ends December 15th.

Life de Luxe is having a blog advent calendar.

Christmas Market at Överjärva

It’s like a little factory here at the moment and I’m clay Santa ;)
For those of you who live around here - this weekend is the Christmas Market. It’s open Saturday and Sunday 9-10th December 11-4 pm.

I’ve made candle holders for thin candles in a coarse dark stoneware clay and my Christmas cards will be for sale - as they are on etsy!

My amaryllis is now in full bloom! But where is the snow?!

Gearing up

Here at Överjärva, things are falling into place for next weekends Christmas Fair. Cakes and breads are baked in the café, floors are swiped, wood is chopped and market tables are counted. The ceramic workshop is filled with candles and pine and I am desperately trying to keep a cold at bay. The amaryllis is beautiful and I expect it will be in full bloom any day now.

I was invited to a breakfast preview of designer Christmas trees the other day at Hotel Birger Jarl. The close up above is a pink tree by illustrator Liselotte Watkins. I’ve put some more trees here.
